Exclusive Video: John Cena on the hunt for 'Bumblebee'
Has Bumblebee met his match? This Friday, the heroic Autobot will face off against not only villainous Decepticons, but a human foe who believes Bee is a threat to the planet Earth. Playing that human foe is none other than John Cena, the WWE superstar turned big screen actor. His Agent Burns is a take-charge, no-nonsense man of action, but Cena skillfully works in a lot of humor with the role. Sitting down with Moviebill, he discusses his early connections to “Transformers” and explains why “Bumblebee” is a new direction for the franchise.
When you check out “Bumblebee” on the big screen this weekend, be sure to see it at a Regal Cinemas location in RealD 3D. You’ll receive our first ever Moviebill Flip, a new design that folds out into a poster! What’s more, you’ll be able to use your Moviebill scanner in the Regal app to see not just John Cena, but more exclusive interviews with the “Bumblebee” cast!
From Paramount Pictures, “Bumblebee” is set in the year 1987, catching up with the title hero on the run. He soon finds refuge in a small Californian beach town junkyard. Charlie Watson (Hailee Steinfeld), on the cusp of turning 18 and trying to find her place in the world, discovers a battle-scarred and broken Bumblebee. When Charlie revives him, she quickly learns this is no ordinary yellow VW bug.
“Bumblebee” represents a few firsts for the “Transformers” franchise. Not only does the film mark the series’ first spinoff and first prequel, “Bumblebee” is the first live action “Transformers” movie not to be directed by Michael Bay. This time, Laika Studios founder Travis Knight is helming from a screenplay by Christina Hodson. Knight, who has long served as an animator, made his directorial debut with the 2016 stop-motion adventure “Kubo and the Two Strings.”
The “Bumblebee” cast also includes Justin Theroux, Angela Bassett, Martin Short, Pamela Adlon and Megyn Price.
Catch “Bumblebee” on the big screen December 21st and make sure to see it in RealD 3D to receive your Moviebill Flip.
