Spike Lee’s latest, “BlacKkKlansman,” is set to hit theaters this Friday and early word is very positive. The film currently sits at 97% on Rotten Tomatoes. For a taste of why audiences are responding so positively to the true story, look no further than the three clips at the bottom of this page.

Set in the early 1970s, “BlacKkKlansman” follows Ron Stallworth (John David Washington) is the first African-American detective to serve in the Colorado Springs Police Department. Determined to make a name for himself, Stallworth bravely sets out on a dangerous mission: infiltrate and expose the Ku Klux Klan. The young detective soon recruits a more seasoned colleague, Flip Zimmerman (Adam Driver), into the undercover investigation of a lifetime. Together, they team up to take down the extremist hate group as the organization aims to sanitize its violent rhetoric to appeal to the mainstream.

Produced by the team behind Jordan Peele’s Academy Award winning “Get Out,” “BlacKkKlansman” also stars Laura Harrier (“Spider-Man: Homecoming”) and Topher Grace (“That 70’s Show”). Spike Lee directs from a script by Charlie Wachtel & David Rabinowitz and Kevin Willmott & Spike Lee, based on the book “Black Klansman” by Ron Stallworth.

Focus Features will release “BlacKkKlansman” in theaters this Friday, August 10, 2018.
