Watch a special 'Tolkien' Q&A live with moderator George R. R. Martin

This Friday, Fox Searchlight Pictures is preparing to release an incredible true story to the big screen with “Tolkien,” a biopic of legendary “The Hobbit” and “The Lord of the Rings” author J.R.R. Tolkien. In celebration of the film’s release, the Regency Westwood Village in Los Angeles, California was host to a special early screening followed by a Q&A with director Dome Karukoski and stars Nicholas Hoult and Lily Collins. That Q&A, which you can watch in the player below, also boasts a very special moderator: none other than “Game of Thrones” author and lifelong Tolkien fan George R.R. Martin!

“Tolkien” explores the formative years of the orphaned author as he finds friendship, love and artistic inspiration among a group of fellow outcasts at school. This takes him into the outbreak of World War I, which threatens to tear the “fellowship” apart. All of these experiences would inspire Tolkien to write his famous Middle-Earth novels.

Also starring Colm Meaney, Anthony Boyle, Patrick Gibson, Tom Glynn-Carney, Craig Roberts, Laura Donnelly, Genevieve O’Reilly, Pam Ferris and Derek Jacobi, “Tolkien” is directed by Dome Karukoski from a screenplay by David Gleeson and Stephen Beresford. Producers include Peter Chernin p.g.a., Jenno Topping p.g.a., David Ready p.g.a. and Kris Thykier p.g.a.

Look for “Tolkien” in theaters beginning May 10.
