A Letter From the Moviebill Team
Yesterday, Regal announced that all 542 of their theatre locations will be closing indefinitely as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. Shortly thereafter, similar announcements were made by Alamo Drafthouse, AMC and Landmark, temporarily shutting down all locations and, out of grave necessity, eliminating theatrical exhibition for the foreseeable future.
“Any time, at any Regal, it’s our goal to provide a safe and healthy environment for our employees and guests,” explains Cineworld CEO Mooky Greidinger. “At this time, we have made the difficult decision to close our theaters. We value our movie-loving customers and have no doubt we will be serving them again as soon as possible with a full state of Hollywood blockbusters. The Cineworld Group and Regal Theatres are strong, standing on solid ground and our continued goal is to be The Best Place to Watch a Movie!”
For over a century, movies have been what we turn to in times of trouble. They offer an escape from our world into adventures as big as imagination itself. There is, truly, no better way to share the experience than on the biggest screen possible, surrounded by a like minded crowd.
Of course, circumstances being what they are, the big screen isn’t going to be available for a little while. Rest assured, however, that Moviebill is committed in its goal to enhance and enrich the moviegoing experience, even if the “going” is only as far as your living room.
We invite you to check out Moviebill AR by taping the Moviebill icon in the top right corner of the Regal App to enjoy some of our recent AR activations – Place a full scale Rev-9 from Terminator: Dark Fate, play the Mallet Mayhem game from Harley Quinn and the Birds of Prey and check out some of our cool AR posters like Frozen and Onward!
We are hard at work developing Moviebill AR experiences for the Regal Mobile App, with the aim being to bring some of that movie magic directly to you during this difficult time. While movie theatres will always represent what is far and away the best way to experience movies, the world needs stories now more than ever and Moviebill is committed to bringing them to life, even under the most extraordinary circumstances.
As always keep checking back with Moviebill.com for updates on new releases and for information about big screen rescheduling(such as F9, the latest chapter in The Fast Saga, and the new James Bond film, No Time to Die).
We can’t wait to see you back at the movies soon!
