Disney's 'Maleficent: Mistress of Evil' arrives October 18

Walt Disney Pictures has today announced that their upcoming “Maleficent” sequel has a new title. “Maleficent: Mistress of Evil” will hit theaters this October 18. Check out the new teaser poster!

Look for Maleficent: Mistress of Evil to hit theaters in October.

A followup to the original “Maleficent” (which grossed more than $750 million at the global box office), “Maleficent II” picks up several years after the first film and continues to explore the complex relationship between Angelina Jolie’s horned fairy and Elle Fanning’s soon-to-be Queen Aurora, as they form new alliances and face new adversaries in their struggle to protect the moors and the magical creatures that reside within.

“Maleficent II” also stars Chiwetel Ejiofor, Ed Skrein, Robert Lindsay, Harris Dickinson, Sam Riley, Imelda Staunton, Juno Temple, and Lesley Manville.

“Maleficent II” is directed by Joachim Rønning (“Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales”) from a screenplay by Linda Woolverton (“Alice in Wonderland,” “Beauty and the Beast”) and Micah Fitzerman-Blue and Noah Harpster (“Transparent”). Producers include Joe Roth (“Alice through the Looking Glass,” “Oz the Great and Powerful,” “Maleficent”) and Angelina Jolie.
