Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn is back in a surprise 'Birds of Prey' teaser traile

A surprise trailer has been released online this morning and it’s one that should please DC Comics fans. In the player below, you can take a look at director Cathy Yan’s upcoming “Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation Of One Harley Quinn),” which boasts the return of Margot Robbie’s “Suicide Squad” fan favorite, Harley Quinn.

Set for release next year, “Birds of Prey” is set to offer an R-rated ensemble made up of key Gotham City women. In addition to Robbie as Quinn, “Birds of Prey” stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Huntress, Jurnee Smollett-Bell as Black Canary, Ella Jay Basco as Cassandra Cain (who, in the comics, becomes a later version of Batgirl) and Rosie Perez as Gotham City Police Detective Renee Montoya. They’ll face off against the villainous Black Mask (Ewan McGregor) and Victor Zsasz (Chris Messina).

Production on “Birds of Prey” is currently underway, so expect more surprises between now and its big screen release on February 7, 2020. Before then, however, Warner Bros. will be bringing us both David F. Sandberg’s “Shazam” (on April 5th) and Todd Phillips’ “Joker” (on October 4th). “Birds of Prey” is also set to be followed in 2020 by Patty Jenkins’ return to Themyscira, “Wonder Woman 1984” (hitting theaters June 5, 2020).
