Samuel L. Jackson boards 'Saw' reboot

Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures announced today that Samuel L. Jackson is set to join Chris Rock their upcoming new installment of the Saw franchise. Production has begun on the still untitled film, which will feature Rock as a police detective investigating a series of grizzly crimes with Jackson as his father. Also joining the cast will be Max Minghella as William Schenk, Rock’s partner, and Marisol Nichols as Capt. Angie Garza, Rock’s boss.

“We think Samuel L. Jackson and Chris Rock along with Max Minghella and Marisol Nichols make this film completely special in the ‘Saw’ canon and we can’t wait to unleash this unexpected and sinister new story on fans of this franchise,” says Joe Drake, Chairman of the Lionsgate Motion Picture Group. This is next level of ‘Saw’ on full tilt.”

The new Saw film is produced by longtime franchise filmmakers Mark Burg and Oren Koules – who are back once again to shepherd this re-imagining, which is directed by Darren Lynn Bousman, who helmed three of the most successful films in the Saw franchise to date. The film itself was developed based on Chris Rock’s love of the franchise.and written by Pete Goldfinger and Josh Stolberg. The film will be executive produced by Chris Rock, long-time Saw executive producer Daniel Heffner and the original creators of Saw, James Wan and Leigh Whannell.

The film will offer fans worldwide a new amped up level of deviously treacherous traps, clever clues and the edge-of-the-seat suspense they expect from the one of the world’s most terrifying horror franchises.

Look for the new Saw on the big screen October 23, 2020.
