A new 'Tolkien' trailer explores the lore of the rings

Fox Searchlight Pictures has just released a new trailer for their upcoming biopic of legendary “The Hobbit” and “The Lord of the Rings” author J.R.R. Tolkien. The biopic sets Nicholas Hoult (“Warm Bodies,” “Mad Max: Fury Road”) as the author and Lily James (“Cinderella,” “Baby Driver”) as his wife to be, Edith.

“Tolkien” explores the formative years of the orphaned author as he finds friendship, love and artistic inspiration among a group of fellow outcasts at school. This takes him into the outbreak of World War I, which threatens to tear the “fellowship” apart. All of these experiences would inspire Tolkien to write his famous Middle-Earth novels.

Also starring Colm Meaney, Anthony Boyle, Patrick Gibson, Tom Glynn-Carney, Craig Roberts, Laura Donnelly, Genevieve O’Reilly, Pam Ferris and Derek Jacobi, “Tolkien” is directed by Dome Karukoski from a screenplay by David Gleeson and Stephen Beresford. Producers include Peter Chernin p.g.a., Jenno Topping p.g.a., David Ready p.g.a. and Kris Thykier p.g.a.

Look for “Tolkien” in theaters beginning May 10.
