Prepare for scares with four 'Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark' teasers

If you grew up after 1981, it’s likely that you encountered Alvin Schwartz‘s terrifying children’s horror anthology, “Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark” or one of its followup volumes at some point during your youth. Not only are the stories themselves unsettling enough to take up permanent residence in your hippocampus, but Stephen Gammell‘s classic black and white illustrations are truly the stuff that nightmare are made of. Now, a big screen version of “Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark” is on the way from CBS Films and writer and producer Guillermo del Toro. If these first four spots are any indication, moviegoers just might never sleep again.

Inspired by one of the most terrifying children’s book series of all time, “Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark” follows a group of young teens who must solve the mystery surrounding sudden and macabre deaths in their small town.

The film’s cast includes Zoe Colletti, Michael Garza, Gabriel Rush, Austin Abrams, Dean Norris, Gil Bellows, Lorraine Toussaint, Austin Zajur and Natalie Ganzhorn. Directed By André Øvredal (“The Autopsy of Jane Doe”), “Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark” is produced del Toro alongside Sean Daniel, Jason F. Brown, J. Miles Dale and Elizabeth Grave.

Look for “Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark” to hit the big screen August 9.
