Scares abound in the ‘Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween’ trailer
Halloween is just a few months away and Sony Pictures has plans to celebrate in true R.L. Stine fashion. Hitting theaters on October 12 is “Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween,” a sequel to the 2015 blockbuster hit. The film’s first trailer was just released today and you can check it out in the player above!
Directed by “The DUFF” helmer Ari Sandel from a script by “Peter Rabbit” scribe Rob Lieber, “Goosebumps 2” brings back to life the terrifying stars of Stine’s immensely popular book series. The trailer features everything from witches and werewolves to monstrous gummy bears, all alongside, of course, Slappy, the antagonistic ventriloquist dummy from the first film.
The first “Goosebumps” movie was directed by Rob Letterman, who is currently at work bringing Nintendo’s “Detective Pikachu” to the big screen. “Goosebumps” wound up a hit with audiences and critics alike, pulling in $150 million at the worldwide box office. Jack Black headlined the original as both Stine and the voice of Slappy, but it is currently unclear as to whether or not he’s connected to the sequel in any way.
The “Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween” cast includes Wendi McLendon-Covey, Madison Iseman, Jeremy Ray Taylor, Caleel Harris, Chris Parnell and Ken Jeong. It is produced by Deborah Forte and Neal H. Mortiz with Timothy M. Bourne and Tania Landau serving as executive producers.
Catch “Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween” on the big screen October 12.
