See the youngest hustler America has ever seen in the 'White Boy Rick' trailer

Sony Pictures has brought online the trailer for the upcoming true story “White Boy Rick”. The film follows Ricky Wershe Jr. (Richie Merritt) as, in the 1980s, he becomes the youngest ever drug dealer turned FBI informant. Check out the trailer in the player above.

Directed by Yann Demange (“’71”), “White Boy Rick” takes place in 1984 Detroit and follows the Wershe family through their financial struggles and personal dramas, eventually leading Ricky Jr. to seek a way to pull his family out of the slump they have fallen into.

Matthew McConaughey headlines “White Boy Rick” as Richard Wershe, Sr., father to both Ricky and his sister, Dawn (Bel Powley). As you can see for yourself in the trailer, the Wershe family is on the brink of falling apart altogether. Dawn is acting out, and everyone is living together in a squalid house with increasingly unreliable income. Ricky takes it upon himself to find a path to salvation, but winds up inadvertently falling in with pushers.

The “White Boy Rick” cast also includes Academy Award nominee Jennifer Jason Leigh (“The Hateful Eight”), Eddie Marsan (“The World’s End”), and three time Oscar nominee Piper Laurie (“Carrie”).

Look for “White Boy Rick” on the big screen beginning September 14, 2018.
