Watch the new and improved 'Sonic the Hedgehog' movie trailer

He’s back! After a short delay for some cosmetic revisions, Sonic the Hedgehog is back and racing to theaters. Paramount Pictures has released a new trailer for the 2020 film, which shows off Sonic’s new, more game accurate look. Check it out in the player below and take a look at the first poster at the bottom of this page.

A live action adventure comedy based on the global blockbuster videogame franchise from Sega, Sonic the Hedgehog centers on the infamously brash bright blue hedgehog. The film follows the (mis)adventures of Sonic as he navigates the complexities of life on Earth with his newfound – human – best friend Tom Wachowski (James Marsden). Sonic and Tom join forces to try and stop the villainous Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) from capturing Sonic and using his immense powers for world domination. The film also stars Tika Sumpter and Pawnee’s own Jean-Ralphio, Ben Schwartz, as the voice of Sonic.

Sonic made his video game debut in 1991 on the SEGA Genesis console. Since then, the game series has exceeded 360 million units sold between packaged and digital downloads. The new film may mark the first Sonic movie, but it’s not the first time the character has been seen on the big screen. Sonic made cameo appearances in both 2012’s Wreck-It Ralph and, last year, in Ready Player One.

Sonic the Hedgehog hits the big screen February 14, 2020.
