The 'Sonic the Hedgehog' movie trailer races in

Paramount Pictures has just released the first trailer for their big screen take on the classic SEGA hero, “Sonic the Hedgehog”. Check it out in the player below and take a look at the first poster at the bottom of this page.

A live action adventure comedy based on the global blockbuster videogame franchise from Sega, “Sonic the Hedgehog” centers on the infamously brash bright blue hedgehog. The film follows the (mis)adventures of Sonic as he navigates the complexities of life on Earth with his newfound – human – best friend Tom Wachowski (James Marsden). Sonic and Tom join forces to try and stop the villainous Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) from capturing Sonic and using his immense powers for world domination. The film also stars Tika Sumpter and Pawnee’s own Jean-Ralphio, Ben Schwartz, as the voice of Sonic.

“Sonic the Hedgehog” made his video game debut in 1991 on the SEGA Genesis console. Since then, the game series has exceeded 360 million units sold between packaged and digital downloads. The new film may mark the first “Sonic” movie, but it’s not the first time the character has been seen on the big screen. Sonic made cameo appearances in both 2012’s “Wreck-It Ralph” and, last year, in “Ready Player One”.

“Sonic the Hedgehog” hits the big screen November 8.
