'Star Wars: Episode IX' completes principal photography

To paraphrase a certain Mon Calamari Admiral, “It’s a wrap!”  J.J. Abrams has just confirmed via Twitter that he has completed principal photography on the highly anticipated (and still untitled) “Star Wars: Episode IX,” the final chapter of the Skywalker saga.

Lucasfilm Ltd. and Walt Disney Pictures are gearing up for the release of “Episode IX” with the reveal of “Triple Force Friday” this October 4th. The retail event will celebrate the launch of a whole range of brand-new products from a trio of original “Star Wars” entertainment events, including products inspired by “Episode IX,” the first-ever Star Wars live-action series, “The Mandalorian” and the latest title from EA and Respawn, “Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order”. As “Star Wars” fans have come to anticipate, products spanning categories from toys to collectibles, housewares, books, apparel and more will go on sale beginning at 12:01 a.m. on October 4, 2019. Stores around the world will join the festivities with in-store events and midnight openings.

Abrams co-wrote the “Episode IX” screenplay with Chris Terrio. Returning cast members include Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Kelly Marie Tran, Joonas Suotamo, Billie Lourd, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Billy Dee Williams and the late Carrie Fisher. Newcomers to the cast include Naomi Ackie, Keri Russell, Richard E. Grant, Matt Smith and Dominic Monaghan.

Composer John Williams, who has scored every chapter in the “Star Wars” saga since 1977’s “A New Hope,” will return to a galaxy far, far away with “Episode IX”. “Star Wars: Episode IX” will be produced by Kathleen Kennedy, J.J. Abrams, and Michelle Rejwan, and executive produced by Callum Greene and Jason McGatlin. The crew includes Dan Mindel (Director of Photography), Rick Carter and Kevin Jenkins (Co-Production Designers), Michael Kaplan (Costume Designer), Neal Scanlan (Creature and Droid FX), Maryann Brandon and Stefan Grube (Editors), Roger Guyett (VFX Supervisor), Tommy Gormley (1st AD), and Victoria Mahoney (2nd Unit Director).

A Lucasfilm Ltd. and Walt Disney Pictures release, “Star Wars: Episode IX” is scheduled to hit the big screen December 2019. Check back for updates on the production as they become available.
