'TENET' delayed indefinitely as WB shifts release schedule
Unfortunately for would-be moviegoers everywhere, plans to bring TENET to the big screen next month have been put on pause.Warner Bros. Pictures has delayed the release of the highly anticipated Christopher Nolan film indefinitely, although with a note that TENET is still planned to hit theaters in 2020. Meanwhile, the studio has also delayed The Conjuring 3: The Devil Made Me Do It. Initially set to hit the big screen on September 11, 2020, the franchise sequel will now debut June 4, 2021.
Filmed on location across seven countries, TENET offers an action epic evolving from the world of international espionage. Nolan is directing from his own original screenplay, utilizing a mixture of IMAX and 70mm film to bring the story to the screen.
TENET‘s international ensemble cast is led by John David Washington, who stars opposite Robert Pattinson, Elizabeth Debicki, Dimple Kapadia, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Clémence Poésy, Michael Caine and Kenneth Branagh.
TENET is being produced by Nolan and Emma Thomas. Thomas Hayslip is serving as executive producer. Nolan’s behind-the-scenes creative team includes director of photography Hoyte van Hoytema, production designer Nathan Crowley, editor Jennifer Lame, costume designer Jeffrey Kurland, and visual effects supervisor Andrew Jackson.
The score for TENET being composed by Ludwig Göransson, best known for his work on films like Fruitvale Station and Black Panther, as well as the Disney+ Star Wars series, The Mandalorian. This project marks the first time since The Prestige that Nolan has not worked with composer Hans Zimmer. (Per Indiewire, Zimmer had to turn down TENET because of his desire to work on Denis Villeneuve’s upcoming adaptation of Frank Herbert’s Dune).
