'TENET' eyes domestic release beginning September 3
After some understandable delays, Warner Bros. Pictures has TENET back on track to hit movie theaters in about a month’s time. The film is set to first open internationally, beginning August 26, before rolling out into available US theaters beginning Thursday, September 3.
Filmed on location across seven countries, TENET offers an action epic evolving from the world of international espionage. Nolan is directing from his own original screenplay, utilizing a mixture of IMAX and 70mm film to bring the story to the screen.
TENET‘s international ensemble cast is led by John David Washington, who stars opposite Robert Pattinson, Elizabeth Debicki, Dimple Kapadia, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Clémence Poésy, Michael Caine and Kenneth Branagh.
TENET is being produced by Nolan and Emma Thomas. Thomas Hayslip is serving as executive producer. Nolan’s behind-the-scenes creative team includes director of photography Hoyte van Hoytema, production designer Nathan Crowley, editor Jennifer Lame, costume designer Jeffrey Kurland, and visual effects supervisor Andrew Jackson.
The score for TENET being composed by Ludwig Göransson, best known for his work on films like Fruitvale Station and Black Panther, as well as the Disney+ Star Wars series, The Mandalorian. This project marks the first time since The Prestige that Nolan has not worked with composer Hans Zimmer. (Per Indiewire, Zimmer had to turn down TENET because of his desire to work on Denis Villeneuve’s upcoming adaptation of Frank Herbert’s Dune).
