The 'Midsommar' trailer reveals the return of 'Hereditary' director Ari Aster
A24 has just brought online the first trailer for “Midsommar,” the sophomore feature film from “Hereditary” writer and director Ari Aster. Take a first look in the player below!
Specific details on “Midsommar” have not been revealed and, at the moment, there is no official synopsis. Aster did drop a few details about the project last year, however, as he was promoting “Hereditary”.
“The next film I’m making is a horror film,” he told Fandango, “and I’m making it with A24. It’s a dark break-up movie that becomes a horror film, set in Sweden. That’s all I can really say now. It’s called ‘Midsommar’. Everybody’s been spelling it wrong. It’s ‘midsummer’ in Swedish.”
“Hereditary,” Toni Collette and Alex Wolff, was released last year and instantly became a hit with audiences and critics alike. The modestly produced horror thriller wound up pulling in nearly $80 million at the worldwide box office.
Starring Florence Pugh, Jack Reynor, William Jackson Harper, Vilhelm Blomgran, Archie Madekwe, Ellora Torchia and Will Poulter, “Midsommar” is set to hit theaters August 9.
