The 'New Mutants' movie trailer aims to X-Cite

Despite the sale of the studio to Walt Disney Pictures last year, Twentieth Century Fox‘s corner of the Marvel Universe is still showing signs of life. Today, Fox has released a new trailer for The New Mutants, writer and director Josh Boone’s big screen adaptation of the X-Men spinoff title that has unfortunately been the victim of rescheduling for some time. Originally, The New Mutants was slated to open in theaters in early 2018.

The New Mutants offers an original horror thriller set in an isolated hospital where a group of young mutants is being held for psychiatric monitoring. When strange occurrences begin to take place, both their new mutant abilities and their friendships will be tested as they battle to try and make it out alive.

Boone directs from a screenplay he wrote with Knate Lee, adapting Chris Claremont’s original comic book storyline. The film version sets Maisie Williams as Rahne Sinclair (aka Wolfsbane), Anya Taylor-Joy as Illyana Rasputin (aka Magik), Charlie Heaton as Sam Guthrie (aka Cannonball), Blu Hunt as Dani Moonstar (aka Mirage), Henry Zaga as Roberto da Costa (aka Sunspot), and Alice Braga as Dr. Cecilia Reyes.

The New Mutants is produced by Simon Kinberg, p.g.a., Karen Rosenfelt, p.g.a. and Lauren Shuler Donner with Stan Lee and Michele Imperato Stabile serving as executive producers. Look for it to hit the big screen beginning April 3.
