The 'Overlord' trailer teases Bad Robot's unique WWII thriller

Paramount Pictures has released a first look at Bad Robot‘s mysterious “Overlord”. As you can see in the player above, “Overlord” isn’t exactly your standard World War II thriller. Despite being set against the real life Operation Overlord (the Allied forces’ D-Day landing on the beaches of Normandy), the film takes a fantastic turn, pitting its heroes against experimental Nazi zombie soldiers.

Directed by Julius Avery (“Son of a Gun”) from a screenplay by Billy Ray (“Captain Phillips”) and Mark L. Smith (“The Revenant”), “Overlord” is officially described as follows:

On the eve of D-Day, a group of American paratroopers are dropped behind enemy lines to carry out a mission crucial to the invasion’s success. But as they approach their target, they begin to realize there is more going on in this Nazi-occupied village than a simple military operation. 

The “Overlord” cast includes Jovan Adepo (“The Leftovers”), Jacob Anderson (“Game of Thrones”), Dominic Applewhite (“The King’s Speech”), Pilou Asbaek (“Ghost in the Shell”), Iain De Caestecker (“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”), John Magaro (“The Big Short”), Mathilde Ollivier (“The Misfortunes of Francois Jane”), Wyatt Russell (“Everybody Wants Some!!”) and Bokeem Woodbine (“Spider-Man: Homecoming”).

“Overlord” opens in regular theaters and in IMAX beginning November 9, 2018.
