A new 'Venom' poster is pleased to eat you

We’re just over two weeks away from the big screen release of Sony Pictures‘ “Venom,” which sets Tom Hardy as the Marvel Comics antihero. Today, a new “Venom” poster has been released that shows off Hardy alongside costars Michelle Williams and Riz Ahmed:The Venom movie opens in theaters this October.

Directed by Ruben Fleischer (“Zombieland,” “Gangster Squad”), “Venom” follows Eddie Brock, an ordinary man who bonds with an alien symbiote that gives him superhuman abilities but also threatens to transform his personality into something monstrous.

“Venom” also stars Reid Scott (HBO’s “Veep”). The film is scripted by Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner (“Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle”), Kelly Marcel (“Fifty Shades of Grey”) and Will Beall (the upcoming “Aquaman” adaptation).

Although “Venom” is set in a separate continuity from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the film marks the first of four “Spider-Man” centric films set to arrive in the next year. “Venom” will be followed on December 14th with the animated “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” while 2019 is set to deliver both the still-untitled followup to “Avengers: Infinity War” as well as a direct “Spider-Man: Homecoming” sequel, “Spider-Man: Far From Home”.

“Venom” opens in theaters October 5, 2018.
