A new 'Dark Phoenix' poster teases this summer's X-Men adventure
Although it’s very likely that the “X-Men” movie franchise as we know it will be coming to an end with the Disney merger, it looks like 20th Century Fox is prepared to go out with a bang. The studio has just released a stylish new poster for “Dark Phoenix” with the promise of a new trailer to arrive tomorrow.
In “Dark Phoenix,” the X-Men face their most formidable and powerful foe: one of their own, Jean Grey. During a rescue mission in space, Jean is nearly killed when she is hit by a mysterious cosmic force. Once she returns home, this force not only makes her infinitely more powerful, but far more unstable. Wrestling with this entity inside her, Jean unleashes her powers in ways she can neither comprehend nor contain. With Jean spiraling out of control, and hurting the ones she loves most, she begins to unravel the very fabric that holds the X-Men together. Now, with this family falling apart, they must find a way to unite — not only to save Jean’s soul, but to save our very planet from aliens who wish to weaponize this force and rule the galaxy.
Written and directed by Simon Kinberg, “Dark Phoenix” stars James McAvoy as Professor Charles Xavier, Michael Fassbender as Magneto, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, Nicholas Hoult as Beast, Sophie Turner as Phoenix, Tye Sheridan as Cyclops, Alexandra Shipp as Storm, Kodi Smit-McPhee as Nightcrawler, Evan Peters as Quicksilver, and Jessica Chastain in a still unrevealed mystery role as the storyline’s central antagonist.
A 20th Century Fox release, “Dark Phoenix” opens in theaters June 7, 2019.
